Guns kill people? What a ridiculously absurd statement! Guns don't kill people, clockwork automatons EQUIPPED with guns do... |

Flaunting your tournament record to back up your statement (especially in a forum where everyone is well aware of your success) to refute a disagreement is a little less than jovial, no?
Don't think that I'm mad or anything, I was just shocked that you felt that bomb had to be dropped to justify your point of view.
The point was made, and accepted... But, bad form, indeed. _________________ Beware a man who owns only one gun. He'll know how to use it. |

wiley agreeing with me? maybe I need to take a cheesier angle on this
Anywho... While I do miss VPs (would rather give up 60vps for a dead raider then 1kp...yeouch), I have gotten used to working with KPs. However what I think we lost focus on here, and that is what works in this particular tournament format.
Since it appears they are doing a straight W-L-D format, having the single objective in a game give extra VPs seems to be the best solution (to me at least). Not to mention the change from KPs to VPs forces people to change how the play abit and I'm always up for a challange.
And you know I know what I'm talking about cause I have never lost to Sabote in a tournament game! (well aware I have cursed myself for our next match....bring on the 1s) |

@Sabote
Cool beans. Man hug inevitable, be prepared.
@All
I was really excited when they mentioned VPs at first. Nostalgic almost...and admittedly biased because my partner is playing IG.
I remember VPs being a fair and standard way to keep tabs on the winner. However, I never participated in a tournament that had VPs, as I only started the tourney scene after 5th ed. came out.
As the missions are stated right now, we have the following:
Mission 1: The Cedar Bucket
Victory Points
700VP if you control the bucket
6 turns, fixed.
No comment, should be a fun meat grinder. (I consider this one the "Annihilation" mission, just with VPs)
Mission 2: The Squig
4 Objectives:
- Own Deployment Zone (DZ)
- Opponents' DZ
- Captured Squig
- Captured Squig in own DZ
Basic Capture and Control mission; with the Squig dynamic added
I think KPs should be added to this mission as a tie-breaker for sure, as having an even number of objectives could cause problems. Or, you could make the Squig worth 2 for capture, 3 for capture in DZ, and then up the chance and severity of the "getaway roll" results. For Example:
- Make bad things happen on 1d6 roll of a 1, or on a 2d6 roll of a double.
- If the Squig gets away, make the squad take wounds (similar to the AP1 Vehicle hit if it's being transported)
- If the Squig kills the squad that is carrying it, it teleports back to the center of the table
Mission 3: The Warp Holes
5 Objectives
Basic Seize Ground Mission; with the hazardous objective bit thrown in.
No comment here really, but the hazardous objective bit is a little too easy to avoid. Maybe make the objectives fire a flamer template (direction determined by scatter dice) at SX APX (wounds on 4, no armor save, no cover save), auto-glancing vehicles, every turn when something is in range of the template. Then, make the wounds count only for the models under the template, not standard wound allocation.
That would spice things up.
All in all, at current, we have 3 very different, very interesting missions. _________________ Beware a man who owns only one gun. He'll know how to use it. |

Not to brag but I did all the book keeping for my recent GT on the back on an envelope with a pencil.

Checkers is also easier, so is Pokimon does that mean "better"?

Calculators are not that hard to use. Although Spellcheck isn't either so.... |
Calculators? Really? Dude I have HP calculators that can whip out business and engineering formulas that will make your head spin and go crying home to your moma. So I hardly think that applies.
You guys obviously never went to the old GTs with VPs that had people throwing down over point costs of units or saw just how stupid people could be at gaming it. Kind of miss calling people out on adding up their points wrong because it happened all the time. For those of you that see cheats behind every corner I would think this would really bug you.
Never really saw to many people dislike KPs except the dedicated transport part of it. but oh well.
End of the day if you are good enough to win at KPs you should be good enough to win at VPs.
Also since everyone will know the missions ahead of time you can adjust so its all really a moot point. |

Yeah I took out all my post because at the end of the day the LC guys are taking the time to put this all together so who really cares, we should just look forward to gaming. It will be fun just to get out and play the game and roll the dice. Plus I really dont care that much between KP and VP.
Plus I like Serion and all this was a bit crazy
